The Washoe County Board of County Commissioners held a special meeting as required by Nevada law to Canvass the Vote. This task certifies that the election results for Washoe County are final.
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office (WCRMEO) has positively identified a woman who was found dead in May 2008 in Churchill County. Betty Lou Japel, 70 at the time of her death, was identified through an innovative partnership between WCRMEO and Othram, Inc.
The Nevada Humane Society (NHS) and Washoe County Regional Animal Services (WCRAS), partners in northern Nevada working to improve animal welfare in the region, are hosting a Town Hall event on February 28 beginning at 6 p.m. at the NHS facility. The Town Hall will take place in the Education Room shared by both organizations at their shared facility at 2825 Longley Lane, Suite B. Washoe County Regional Animal Services (WCRAS) proudly announces a collaborative partnership with the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) to enhance community access to pet microchip scanning services. A demonstration of the new stations will be held on February 20 at 11a.m. at TMFPD Station #33.
A portion of Lakeside Drive in Reno will be closed for approximately seven weeks as Washoe County Community Services Department replaces storm drainage pipes.
Closures will begin on February 15 on Lakeside Drive between Evans Creek and Davis lane. During the road closure period, traffic message boards will be located at two locations on South McCarren Boulevard and one traffic message board on Lakeside and Davis Lane. Motorists are advised to follow the designated detour route.

With the new system, homeowners applying for these same permits will experience expedited processing with minimal wait times.
