Most Washoe County offices will be closed Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day. Memorial Day is observed the last Monday each May to honor those who have given their lives serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.   

The Board of County Commissioners unanimously adopted the Fiscal Year 27 budget, which begins July 1, 2026, as well as the five-year Capital Improvement Plan.

Washoe County has launched an election security pilot project with the Center for Internet Security (CIS), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to data integrity. Registrar of Voters Andrew McDonald presented “Project Plain Sight,” a public-facing data transparency tool providing the public an opportunity to independently verify the integrity of the voter registration system.
