Washoe County Treasurer identifies fee billing discrepancy for some IVGID customers

Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) customers will receive incorrect tax bills this week due to fee billing file errors provided to the Washoe County Treasurer’s Office by IVGID. Treasurer Justin Taylor learned of the error and made the announcement to the Board of County Commissioners during their regularly scheduled meeting today.

Most IVGID residents were billed both a beach and recreation fee, at $720 and $655 respectively. In the fee billing upload files provided to the Treasurer’s Office, the two fees were transposed meaning affected customers will receive a bill with the wrong fee amounts listed, however most taxpayers net taxes due on their tax bill will be correct overall. Approximately 550 customers are billed for only one of those fees and may see an increase in their fees billed.  The Treasurer’s office will provide all affected Incline taxpayers an updated tax bill reflecting the correct amounts for each fee category.

Taylor immediately contacted IVGID and is recommending that IVGID notify its customers.

“As the County Treasurer, my office’s duty is to bill, collect, and distribute taxes and fees as provided by the local jurisdictions,” Taylor said. “We do not maintain customer data or have the ability to correct data submitted to us, so it’s imperative that IVGID customers work directly with the district to determine if they are affected.”

To avoid late fees or missed payments, residents are advised to pay the full amount shown on the fee coupons. Any necessary adjustments will be reflected in the next billing cycle, and some customers may receive either a credit or an additional amount due. Customers should contact IVGID for more information at 775-832-1207.
