Riverbend Park is Washoe County’s newest recreation site, positioned on the bank of the Truckee River near Verdi. Commissioner Mariluz Garcia has allocated part of her District 3 Special Funds for improvements to the park, and this week she will join Washoe County Parks staff to unveil a new mural at the site. Truckee Meadows Water Authority contributed the wall for the mural.

- Where: Riverbend Park – located near the former Riverbend RV Park, 2555 Highway 40 West, look for the parking area and sign next to the highway.
- Why: Riverbend Park offers a brand-new access point to the Truckee River and a portage area for rafters, as well as ADA-compliant park amenities. Commissioner Mariluz Garcia granted $6,000 to the Indigenous Peoples Council on Biocolonialism to cover expenses for artist Autumn Harry to create a mural on the site. Garcia also allocated $1,500 to Washoe County Parks for the installation of a picnic table and a bench at the park.
