Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office will begin sending Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) notices to voters as part of the implementation of Assembly Bill 432, passed by the Nevada Legislature in 2021, effective January 1,2025.
Beginning this year, residents who complete a transaction with the DMV or other designated state agency will have their voter information automatically transferred to the Registrar of Voter’s office to become a registered voter or update their existing voter registration.
Once the information is received and processed by the Registrar of Voters office, a notice is mailed to the individual’s residential and/or mailing address. This notice allows the voter to supply additional information such as political party affiliation. In order to opt-out of the AVR process, voters must take action by responding to the form. When a voter receives this notice, they should read the enclosed form, make any necessary updates to their information, sign, and return the form to the Registrar of Voters office.
