Washoe County recruiting for numerous job positions

Washoe County’s Human Resources Department is recruiting for positions throughout the county’s 24 departments, ranging from Animal Services to the Sheriff’s Office.   

Washoe County has nearly three dozen job postings on its recruitment website, with additional opportunities available through contracted vendors including Volunteers of America and Allied Universal Security. Many positions are available for immediate appointment, while others have long-term deadlines to apply, allowing interested applicants time to plan if necessary.  

Jobs include: 

  • Technology Network Engineer I and II, deadline to apply November 18. These are in the Technology Services Department, with a salary range of $61,000 to $89,000 per year. 
  • Public Health Nurse I and II, deadline to apply is November 18. These positions are in the Washoe County Health District and have a salary range of $61,000 to $94,000 per year. 
  • Auto Body Repairer in the Community Services Department. Deadline to apply is November 22, and this position pays up to $66,000 per year.  
  • Animal Services Caretaker with Regional Animal Services. The deadline to apply for this position has been extended to April 18, 2022, and pays up to just under $48,000 per year.  
  • The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is seeking Locum Tenens Forensic Pathologists. These pathologists will only cover routine, non-criminal autopsies and are paid on a per-examination basis with bonus pay for prompt completion of paperwork.  
  • The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is hiring a Deputy Sheriff. Applicants must possess a current and valid Nevada Commission on Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Basic Category I Certificate or be currently enrolled in the academy. Deputy Sheriffs pay range is up to $80,000. The Sheriff’s Office is also hiring Deputy Sheriff Recruits. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, and meet certain minimum requirements. These are full-time positions that undergo training and law enforcement academy instruction; pay ranges from around $47,000 to $64,000.  
  • Juvenile Services is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide routine nursing care in a detention facility. The salary ranges from $56,000 to $73,000 per year. A valid license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Nevada is required at the time of appointment. 
  • Deputy Public Defender with the Alternate Public Defender’s Office, which represents parents whose children have been removed from the custody and/or control of those parents, criminal defendants, specialty court participants and juveniles. The salary range, depending on experience, ranges around $73,000 to $143,000.
