Washoe County invites Hidden Valley residents to community meeting on flash flood recovery

by | Jul 30, 2026

Washoe County is inviting Hidden Valley residents to attend a community meeting to learn more about the June flash flood, ongoing recovery efforts, and work underway to help reduce future flood impacts.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m. at the Hidden Valley Country Club.

County staff and subject matter experts will provide an overview of what occurred during the storm, explain how Hidden Valley’s stormwater drainage system is designed to function, discuss repairs completed since the flood, and share information about available community resources. Attendees will also learn why extreme flash floods cannot be completely prevented and what steps are being taken to improve community resilience.

The presentation will include maps, photos, and video footage to help illustrate the storm’s impacts and the County’s response. Residents will have an opportunity to ask questions and speak directly with County staff.

Residents who would like to receive future Hidden Valley recovery updates can join the email list by emailing Washoe311@washoecounty.gov with their name and address.
