Washoe County has hired a new chief financial officer, County Manager Eric Brown announced today. Abbe Yacoben will join Washoe County on October 24, moving from Las Vegas where she has served as City of Las Vegas Deputy Finance Director since 2017, overseeing a $2 billion annual budget.

Yacoben has nearly two decades of experience managing finances for local governments of all sizes. She began her public service at Village of Forest Park, Illinois, in 2003. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Chicago and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the Chicago Harris School of Public Policy Studies, and a Certified Public Finance Officers Certification.

“We are thrilled that Ms. Yacoben has accepted our offer to serve as chief financial officer of Washoe County,” Brown said. “She has the experience to manage our $1 billion budget and the vision to help drive our strategic initiatives. She is joining an award-winning team with the highest standards in transparency and efficiency, and I know she will bring innovation to the already dynamic team.”

Yacoben will start October 24. She replaces former CFO Christine Vuletich, who retired in June this year.
