Sun Valley, Nevada. March 9, 2016. Everyone throughout the Truckee Meadows is invited to “recreate” in Sun Valley. The end of Washoe County School District’s school sessions brings a celebration when the Sun Valley pool opens for the season with a barbeque, extended pool hours and a free movie in the park shown at dusk. The Robert and Norma Fink Pool Complex offers swim lessons, pool events and the public can reserve the pool area for special events. A team of trained lifeguards assure the safety of all pool guests.
The recent enhancements at Gepford Park continues with the Cal Ripken Babe Ruth league’s successful program serving youth from four-18 years of age, and now includes two new “t-ball” fields. In addition, there is a sanctioned BMX track, and skateboard park located at the Sun Valley Community Park.
In 2010, the Sun Valley General Improvement District acquired the 26.09 acre Community Park and Sun Valley Pool complex from Washoe County Parks and Recreation Department. In 2011, the District then acquired the remainder of the Sun Valley parks, and today operates and maintains the many public programs available at the parks.
The District supports and helps promote all the various activities for individuals, families and their children. Everyone throughout the Truckee Meadows is invited to “recreate” in Sun Valley. For more information visit www.svgid.com.
