Washoe County Celebrates Seniors

by | May 3, 2017

Monday marks the beginning of Older Americans Month. This year’s theme is “Age out loud,” bringing awareness to the way seniors are living their lives with boldness, confidence and passion while serving as an inspiration to people of all ages.
Monday, May 1, Washoe County Senior Services hosted an opening ceremony which included breakfast, a chance for seniors to boogie down during a concert and browse an information fair at the Washoe County Senior Center. The fair featured more than 40 local agencies and was beneficial to hundreds of seniors who learned more about several programs and services available to them.
“We want our seniors to know they are an integral part of our community and will always be valued and cared for in Washoe County,” Washoe County Commission Chair Bob Lucey said. “Older Americans Month is an opportunity to honor our beloved seniors and show them the support and resources available to them.”
