Second Judicial District Court receives $30,000 to enhance services offered in Felony DUI Court

The Second Judicial District Court, in partnership with Washoe County, received $30,000 from the Office of Traffic Safety.  Grant funds will be used to enhance the Felony DUI Court. 
The Felony DUI Court currently serves 117 active participants.  The grant funding will allow Specialty Courts to adhere to our mission and pursue our goals.  The organizational goals for Felony DUI Court focus on meeting statutory requirements, continuing education and training for team members, updating program policies and procedures, and maintaining tracking methodology to capture data for reports and program analysis.  Additional goals pertain to the participants in our Felony DUI Court and our community
Chief Judge Scott Freeman explains, “The Felony DUI Court relies on community partnerships to successfully manage each participant’s case. These collaborative efforts and grant award will assist in reaching goals to protect public safety, to reduce DUI recidivism, to reduce substance use among participants, and rehabilitate participants to provide a safe, more secure, and healthier community.”
