Reno, Nev. May 7, 2019. Washoe County is warning citizens about a scam involving a threat of collection of an IRS lien claiming to be sent from “Washoe County – Public Judgement Records”, a non-existent county department.
Citizens report that they are receiving a letter via mail claiming the IRS will levy property if the debt is not paid.
The Washoe County Treasurer’s Office encourages citizens to contact the Internal Revenue Service directly. Washoe County residents can also check their property tax status online at www.washocounty.us/treas or call the Treasurer’s Office at 775-328-2510.
