Public is invited to investiture proceedings for the Honorable Alex Morey

The Second Judicial District Court invites the public to attend the investiture proceedings for the Honorable Alex Morey, Dept. 13, at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25. The ceremony will take place at the National Judicial College, 1664 N. Virginia Street, Reno.

On April 3, 2026, Governor Joe Lombardo appointed Judge Alexander Morey as the presiding judge of Department 13 of the Second Judicial District Court.

Judge Morey earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Lewis & Clark School of Law. After relocating to Northern Nevada in 2008, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Deborah Schumacher before entering private practice with Silverman Decaria & Kattelman, Chtd., later Silverman, Kattelman, Sprringgate, Morey, Chtd., where he became a partner in 2016. He practiced exclusively in family law until his appointment to the bench, representing clients in matters involving child custody, support, alimony, and complex property and financial disputes.

A board-certified family law specialist with advanced training in negotiation through the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers at Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation and in collaborative divorce, Judge Morey previously served as Chair of the Family Law Specialization Board and as a member of the Family Law Executive Council. He has also volunteered with the Court’s Lawyer in the Library program and taught in the University of Nevada, Reno Extended Studies Paralegal Studies Certificate Program from 2023 to 2026.
