Reno, Nevada. Jan. 20, 2015. Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space is hosting a rededication ceremony for victims of the Galaxy Airlines Flight 203 plane crash on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park.
Media and the public are invited to attend the unveiling of the new memorial for the passengers that were onboard that plane when it crashed on Jan. 21, 1985. The previous memorial plaque was stolen in 2013. The new plaque will be unveiled at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21.
“I am so happy that we are replacing this plaque in honor of the victims of Galaxy Airlines Flight 203,” said Vice Chair Kitty Jung, District 3. “This is a great memorial in a beautiful park that people can come and pay their respects.”

Background info: Galaxy Airlines Flight 203 crashed moments after taking off on Jan. 21, 1985. All but one of the 71 people onboard died. The plane left the Reno-Cannon International Airport and crashed a little more than a mile into flight.
