Las Vegas, NV – The clock is ticking as there are only 30 days remaining before the December 15th midnight deadline approaches for enrolling in a Qualified Health Plan (QHP) and Qualified Dental Plans (QDP) through Nevada Health Link, the online insurance marketplace and fully operational State Based Exchange (SBE) operated by the state agency, Silver State Health Insurance Exchange.
The QHPs available through Nevada Health Link are mandated to cover the ten essential health benefits which include maternity and newborn care, mental health, preventive care and pediatric dental care. Nevadans who do not qualify for Medicaid, Medicare or do not have insurance through their employer are eligible to enroll for insurance through Nevada Health Link. According to a recent report from the Guinn Center, there are nearly 400,000 people who are uninsured in the state of Nevada, ranking Nevada sixth highest nationally for its uninsured population. More than 30 percent of the state’s total uninsured population, approximately 126,000 residents, qualify for a plan through Nevada Health Link. Of those, approximately 77,000 residents also qualify for subsidies and tax credits that can offset the cost of insurance. These subsidies and tax credits are available only through Nevada Health Link.
Fortunately, consumers have several options to help them sign up for a health plan that fits their needs and budget, thanks to the help of an enrollment professional in their own neighborhoods. With easy-to-access locations including the Galleria Mall and the Boulevard Mall, Nevadans should make an appointment today or simply walk in to speak with a licensed broker or agent. Consumers can also enroll and purchase Qualified Health Plans on NevadaHealthLink.com through midnight December 15.
