Washoe County congratulates the incredible students of Coral Academy on an inspiring moment of history in the making! Today, approximately 480 middle school students participated in an official Guinness World Records attempt, reciting from memory the entire Preamble to the United States Constitution in recognition of the 250th birthday of the United States of America. The excitement, focus, and civic pride on display were truly remarkable! To ensure the integrity of the record attempt, several official witnesses and stewards were present, including Washoe County Commission Chair Clara Andriola and Vice Chair Mariluz Garcia, alongside Beth Smith of the Washoe County School District Board and City of Sparks Councilmember Paul Anderson. Washoe County is proud to support and celebrate civic education efforts like this, especially those that engage young people in understanding the foundations of our democracy. A special shout-out to Mr. Bennett, a Social Studies teacher at Coral Academy, whose leadership and dedication over more than 14 months helped make this ambitious and meaningful effort possible. Well done, Coral Academy!
