Plan Ahead: Community meetings to focus on Disaster Planning and Preparation

Reno, Nev. July 3, 2019. Washoe County in collaboration with regional partners are working to better plan and prepare for potential risks in our area with the development of a 5-year disaster plan, also known as the Washoe County Hazard Mitigation Plan. This plan will seek to address the risks in our area and outline activities to plan and decrease these risks. Community members are encouraged to attend one of several upcoming meetings to provide input.
 
1st Open House Meeting for Washoe County Hazard Mitigation Plan: 
When: Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. for community member attendance at an open house meeting. 
Where: Reno Fire Department – Station 11, located at 7105 Mae Anne Avenue, Reno, NV 89523. 
Who: The community is invited to learn about the hazard mitigation planning process and share perspectives on how Washoe County and regional partners can better address hazards that impact our community.

Hazard mitigation planning identifies the most likely hazards that may impact the community (i.e., earthquakes, fires, floods) and prescribes activities to decrease the risks posed by them and how we can best protect our community.
