Eide Bailly partners with CrossReno to provide restoration efforts at Rancho San Rafael

by | Sep 15, 2015

Reno, Nevada. Sept. 15, 2015. One of the nation’s top 25 CPA and business advisory firms, Eide Bailly, is sponsoring the first-ever CrossReno event, specifically to help with the restoration efforts of Rancho San Rafael Park after the event, which is taking place at the park Sept. 19, 2015.
CrossReno is expected to attract more than 400 nationally and internationally ranked professional cyclists and elite amateur cyclists to compete in this spectator-friendly event. The festival – with live music, food trucks, a beer garden and a retail expo – will attract many more from the region for a day of outdoor fun. It will be a family event, with a free kids skills and riding clinic, hosted by the Reno-Tahoe Junior Cycling. The event will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, which will also be hosting family-friendly activities the day of the event.
CrossReno promoter, ShadowIndustries, began working with Washoe County officials in the early planning stages to ensure Rancho San Rafael would be restored to its normal pristine condition following the race.
“We are thrilled to host Reno’s first USA Cycling-sanctioned cyclocross event at one of Washoe County’s signature parks, Rancho San Rafael,” said Commissioner Kitty Jung (District-3). “CrossReno organizers have been very proactive by modifying the course and event staging in an effort to have as minimal impact to the pasture as possible. Washoe County will be working cooperatively with them on pasture restoration as well.  We encourage everyone to come out and support this inaugural kickoff event which is the first of its kind to come to Washoe County.”
The ShadowIndustries management team is made up of Washoe County residents and outdoor enthusiasts, so caring for the park might mean more to them than the average visitor. “The CrossReno Team is committed to working with transparency and collaboration with the park rangers and other essential staff members at Rancho San Rafael Park,” explained ShadowIndustries CEO Michelle Quevedo. “We have been working hard to draft solutions in ways to mitigate damage, and for restoration for specific areas should damage occur.”
Minimal damage has been a major theme of the actual bike course, which was designed by Teal Stetson-Lee, Professional Cyclist for SCOTT 3Rox, and Race Director and Vice President of Operations for ShadowIndustries, in collaboration with other professional course designers. “This type of course is not like a mountain bike course, so we don’t alter the natural terrain that much,” she explained. “And we put a lot of careful thought and attention into every detail, including how to disturb this beautiful park the least.”
Eide Bailly’s sponsorship will pay for the labor and materials necessary to address any damage (intentional or unintentional) of the park after the CrossReno event, including the pasture. “We understand that we’re here for one weekend a year, while it’s an important recreational location for park visitors all year long,” Quevedo said. “We want to contribute toward ensuring Rancho San Rafael remains a great place to visit now and in the future. And it’s our hope that we can help make the pasture even better than it was, so locals can enjoy it again once the County opens it back up to dog-walkers.”
“CrossReno is a great example of how the community can come together to create something that is greater than the sum of its parts. Communities thrive when everyone is given the chance to succeed,” said Eide Bailly Senior Manager Nissa Jimenez. “By supporting events like this, we hope to create a foundation of collaboration that creates opportunities for everyone in our community.”
Other CrossReno sponsors and partners include Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, Scott Sports USA, Red Bull, CrossVegas, Cliff Bar, Visit Reno-Tahoe, City of Reno, Dolan Auto Group, Estipona Group, Morrey Distributing and Truckee Meadows Boys & Girls Club.
