Juror Appreciation Day

by | Sep 9, 2016

Reno, Nevada.  September 9, 2016. The Nevada Administrative Office of the Courts and the Second Judicial District Court celebrate those Washoe County residents who have participated in the jury selection process.
Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, reporting jurors will be greeted by Chief Judge Patrick Flanagan and receive a Certificate Of Appreciation for their commitment to jury service. It is the Court’s objective to recognize community members who have served on a jury or will in the future. As a citizen, jurors are a partner in the effort to put into practice this great freedom of the jury trial system.
The District Court continues to implement new initiatives to support jurors in performing jury service. For instance, Chief Judge Flanagan authored a Jury Handbook that is distributed to jurors when they arrive for jury duty. This handbook reflects upon the importance of jury service while preparing jurors for their role in upholding justice.
The Second Judicial District Court Jury and Interpreter Manager, Kaili Lane, is pleased that the judges in Washoe County are committed to improving jury service. With their support, Ms. Lane creates a process that remains fair, protects individual liberties, and appreciates the sacrifice of those who serve as a juror.
