Candidate Filing available by appointment at Washoe County Registrar of Voters March 4-15

by | Feb 29, 2024

The Candidate Filing period for the 2024 election cycle opens on March 4, and the Washoe County Registrar of Voters will offer appointments to expedite the process.

“There is important paperwork that can take up to an hour to complete in our office, and we want to be sure that candidates can get in and file their paperwork before the deadline,” Interim Registrar Cari-Ann Burgess said. “I encourage candidates to schedule an appointment early in the process so they can get in and out of our office quickly and efficiently.”

Candidate Filing begins March 4 and concludes at 5 p.m. on March 15. Late submissions will not be accepted, per Nevada state election law.

Walk-ins are accepted, but they will be asked to wait until there is an opening in the schedule. Filers need to bring a photo ID that reflects the current residential address, and a cash, certified check, or cashier’s check for the filing fee. Personal checks, money orders, traveler’s checks, credit cards, and other forms of payment are not accepted. Please visit the Washoe County Voters website for information on filing fees.

Washoe County only processes Candidate Filing for offices contained wholly in Washoe County. Statewide offices or offices that represent multi-county districts must file with the Secretary of State, and candidates for city offices must file with the City of Sparks or City of Reno
