Board of County Commissioners Special Meeting Canceled

by | Apr 14, 2021

Per Gov. Steve Sisolak’s announcement today, the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners has canceled its special meeting scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 14. The meeting’s agenda was for the purpose of discussing the county’s COVID local authority plan before it goes before the State COVID Task Force.

Gov. Sisolak announced that he will lift social distancing on May 1 and capacity limitations statewide on June 1. The statewide mask mandate will remain in effect. Washoe County will need to update the proposed local authority plan in light of this announcement. The local authority plan will be heard by the Board of County Commissioners at its next regular meeting scheduled for 10 a.m., April 20, 2021. It is anticipated that the plan to be presented to the Board will be in effect from May 1, 2021 through May 31, 2021.

“I applaud the governor for reopening the state on June 1 and getting our economy moving again. Here in Washoe County, we have been working toward this goal for months, as previewed with the transfer of authority plan that was presented during last week’s commission meeting,” Washoe County Commission Chair Bob Lucey said. “We look forward to continuing to work with the state in keeping our citizens safe and doing what’s best for the health and safety of our community, which includes our business community. We built our plan with the guiding principle that the health of the community is just as important as the health of the economy, so we look forward to joining the governor in rebuilding and moving forward.”
