At a special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, the Board certified the Canvass of the Vote.
The canvass is an administrative step that must be taken before the State of Nevada finalizes the statewide results. Deputy Registrar of Voters Andrew McDonald presented an overview of the election results including any clerical errors that were discovered during the audit process.
The General Election took place on November 5, with two weeks of early voting. Turnout for the election was 79 percent of eligible voters, 51 percent of which was in-person.
This is the first election that the Registrar’s Office implemented panic buttons at Vote Centers, and McDonald reported that there was only one use of the button to report a confrontation related to electioneering at a Vote Center.
The Board approved the canvass in a 3-1 vote with Commissioner Jeanne Herman voting in opposition and Commissioner Mike Clark absent.
