Washoe County helping seniors with pets

Reno, Nevada. May 8, 2015. Washoe County Regional Animal Services and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada will be setup Wednesday, May 13, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., in the patio area of the Washoe County Senior Center to distribute pet food and administer rabies vaccinations and microchips to pets owned by seniors.
WHAT: Free Rabies Vaccination and Microchipping Clinic hosted by Washoe County Regional Animal Services and Senior Services.
WHEN: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.
WHERE: Washoe County Senior Center in Reno at 9th Street and Sutro.

A grant provided by Maddie’s Fund has covered the costs associated with the rabies vaccination and the microchips.  
Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada & the St. Vincent’s Programs will be handing out free cat and dog food to senior citizens during the vaccination clinic. The non-profit group works with the national organization, Pets of the Homeless, to distribute pet food daily at their St. Vincent’s Food Pantry to local people in need.
“Animal Services is grateful for the support of Maddie’s Fund and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada,” said Animal Services Manager Bobby Smith. “We appreciate their commitment to the welfare of our community as well as the animals that play such an important role in our lives.”
