Washoe County Tax Cap Claim Forms Mailed

If you receive a Tax Cap Claim form in the mail, please fill it out and return it to the Assessor, or file it online. This mailing is the for upcoming 2026/2027 fiscal year and is due by June 30, 2027, and we request that you send it by June 15.

Washoe County Property Tax Exemption Renewals Mailed

Exemptions can be applied toward real property tax, personal property tax or toward the Government Service Tax of your vehicle registration at the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles.  The deadline to apply in order to have your exemption applied to property tax for the 2026/2027 fiscal year is June 15, 2026.

Assessor to host Personal Property Declaration Training sessions July 15 & 21

The Washoe County Assessor’s Office would like to remind business owners that the deadline to file business personal property declarations is July 31. In addition, Washoe County Assessor Chris Sarman and the Personal Property Team are offering several training sessions for those who may have questions or wish to understand the process better.

This can be done by checking a parcel number, address, or ownership on the Washoe County Assessor’s website at the website below.  Additional sources for verification include valuation notices, tax bills, or simply calling the Assessor’s Office.

Washoe County Property Tax Exemption Renewals Mailed

Washoe County Assessor Chris S. Sarman is mailing the annual Property Tax Exemption Renewal Notices to qualified veterans, disabled veterans, surviving spouses and blind persons. The Assessor’s Office reminds exemption holders that in order to apply the exemption toward real property taxes, the renewal must be filed with the Assessor’s Office by June 15, 2024.
