Washoe County Regional Parks & Open Space is pleased to announce the 17th Annual Lazy 5 Summer Music Series every Wednesday from 6:30-8 p.m. through August 17.
The Lazy 5 Summer Music Series features some of the best and up-and-coming original and cover bands from around the Reno/Tahoe area, showcasing a different musical genre each week. Food and drink are available for purchase with a different local food truck and mobile pub present at every show. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring a blanket/chairs, a mask, and good vibes! As a reminder, pets, glass containers, and smoking will not be allowed at the event.
June 15: White Water Retooled
White Water Retooled performs a mix of rock ‘n’ roll, country and blues that will get you up and have you dancin’ right out of your shoes! These local legends will be playing all your favorite songs. Don’t miss the Lazy 5 Summer Music Series’ opening show.
June 22: Decoy and Hot August Nights Show and Shine Show
Decoy is one of Northern Nevada’s leading cover bands, known for their high energy shows, excellent vocals and diverse song list from bands ranging from AC/DC, Joan Jett, Led Zeppelin, Journey, The Clash and Lynyrd Skynyrd to Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Sublime, Zach Brown Band, Weezer, Black Keys and many more. Decoy gives 100% and keeps people dancing.
Also don’t miss the Lazy 5 Hot August Nights Show-n-Shine which features more than 50 classic Hot August Nights cars on display starting at 4:30 p.m.
June 29: Dusty Miles and the Cryin’ Shame
Dusty Miles and the Cryin’ Shame plays a modern rockabilly mix of traditional country and old-time rock ‘n’ roll that drives home songs of love, loss and redemption. Dusty Miles and the Cryin’ Shame brings high energy and boot stomping beats to songs you know and love, along with their own songs.
July 6: Boot Juice
Boot Juice is a 7-piece band that features electric and acoustic guitars, three vocalists, bass, drums, trumpet and alto saxophone. Boot Juice’s music freely floats between bluesy rock ‘n’ roll to progressive bluegrass and back. Inspired by the likes of Railroad Earth and soulful harmonies of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Boot Juice has a sound that is uniquely their own, with their heart in Americana songwriting and a rock ‘n’ roll delivery to get the crowd moving.
July 13: Keith Alan Barnett and the Lonesome Polecats
Keith Alan Barnett and the Lonesome Polecats play a mix of southern rock, outlaw country and more, with influences ranging from Willie Nelson and David Allen Coe to Leon Russell and Guy Clark. KAB and the Lonesome Polecats’ music is sure to keep your toes tapping and fingers snappin’. Keith Alan Barnett is an internationally known singer and guitar player who also plays harp, mandolin and ukulele.
July 20: Blue Haven
Blue Haven is a four-piece boogie blues band specializing in playing upbeat, danceable blues music with soul and attitude. Their unique brand of music has a dynamic mixture of styles ranging from West Coast jump and slow Chicago grind to Texas shuffle and flat-out rock ‘n’ roll. Blue Haven delivers at every show to get everyone up and out of their seats dancing. Blue Haven has opened for or shared the stage with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Edgar Winter, Rick Estrin and the The Nightcats, Charlie Musselwhite, Tommy Castro and many more.
July 27: Mescalito
Mescalito was born out of a shared passion for music and the outdoors, their mountain rock ‘n’ soul sound has found solid ground in the Reno Tahoe music scene and beyond. Their music is their own, blending sounds of The Tedeschi Trucks Band, Black Crowes, Little Feat and more. Mescalito has played at The High Sierra Music Festival, Hangtown Music Festival, Harvey’s Outdoor Arena, as well as in numerous Lake Tahoe concert series and sold-out local shows. They’ve shared the stage with such legends as ALO, Jen Hartswick, Greensky Bluegrass, Elephant Revival, Fruition, The Mother Hips, Tea Leaf Green and many others.
August 3: Colin Ross
Colin Ross is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with deep Americana roots. His music features an incredible variety of original music that blends vintage styles of boogie-woogie blues, jazz and slide guitar along with classic piano. Colin mixes jazz free-style piano technique with rollicking blues and boogie, liquid 12-string guitar, greasy delta slide and clever lyrics to make his own brand of Americana, all with the ease that only Colin can assemble.
August 10: In Katootz
In Kahootz is what you get when you mix the bluesy, funky rock of Hall and Oates with rich and powerful vocals of Aretha Franklin. In Kahootz performs a danceable mix of familiar and eclectic songs that will have you smiling and dancing. In Kahootz is guaranteed to put on a show that will make the evening unforgettable.
August 17: Jelly Bread
Lazy 5 is excited to bring Jelly Bread to the stage to close out the 2022 Summer Concert Series. Reno Tahoe’s own Jelly Bread has risen to become a nationally-recognized funky party band. They have toured the country delivering their chameleonic playlist that mixes classic pop and sultry R&B grooves with hard funk and swinging rock ’n’ roll together to keep you moving all over the United States. Their music incorporates exceptional songwriting and storytelling along with four-part harmonies, intricate drum and bass grooves, swampy lap steel guitar, dirt under the fingernails guitar licks, and take-’em-to-church organ come together into a sound that is downright delicious.
