Washoe County joins the National Association of Counties (NACo) to commemorate National County Government Month, held each April.
Washoe County employs more than 2,700 employees across two dozen departments that serve the 490,000 residents. Among the many functions the county is responsible for, it administers and enforces state and local laws, county code, collects taxes and assesses property, conducts elections, provides parks, libraries, emergency management, human and animal services, public health, judicial process, planning and development.
Over the course of National County Government Month, the county will highlight some of the unsung heroes in local government and the departments that keep daily life running in Washoe County. Watch for new episodes of the “Washoe Life” podcast that will shine the spotlight on interesting jobs in the county and fun things to see and do this spring, and follow the county’s social media accounts for information on services and programs throughout the county.
