Washoe County joins the National Association of Counties (NACo) in honoring veterans with Operation Green Light through the Veterans Day holiday. By shining a green light, we let our veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported.
Now in its sixth year, Operation Green Light is spearheaded by NACo and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO). In 2025, Washoe County was among 412 counties across 44 states that participated in Operation Green Light.
Veterans Day is celebrated annually on November 11, and most Washoe County offices will be closed on that day. November 4-11, Washoe County will light four locations in green to honor veterans. The Washoe County locations are:
- Second Judicial District Court – 1 S. Sierra St.
- Washoe County Historic Court House – 75 Court St.
- Washoe County Sheriff’s Office – 911 Parr Blvd.
- Washoe County Administrative Complex – corner of 9th Street and Wells Avenue
