Washoe County is proud to support EmployNV, Nevada’s public workforce system, in bringing a regional career fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, located at 4590 S. Virginia St. in Reno. The event will connect job seekers with nearly 100 employers and resources from across northern Nevada, offering nearly 3,000 jobs. The event is free and open to the public. 
Participating employers will represent a wide range of industries, organizations, job types and experience levels. Interview space will be available, giving employers the opportunity to meet with qualified candidates on-site and potentially extend job offers the same day.
EmployNV will be on-site to offer guidance-based services. Attendees can also learn about free job training programs, employment related financial assistance for all. Along with, specialized career resources for individuals with disabilities. Job seekers are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their résumé and come prepared to interview. For additional support, individuals are encouraged to visit any EmployNV Hub for ongoing résumé-writing assistance and interview preparation.
“We’re excited to present this career fair to the community as we work to connect local job seekers with high-quality local opportunities,” Washoe County Commission Chair Clara Andriola said. “The response from employers has been impressive, and it is shaping up to be the biggest job fair to date in the county. The organizing teams are bringing hiring companies, workforce resources and community partners together in one place so we can take meaningful next steps toward employment and economic stability.”
Participating employers include Tesla Motors, Panasonic Energy of North America, Redwood Materials, FedEx Freight, Washoe County School District, the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority and Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, among many others. Community organizations such as United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra, Access to Healthcare Network, SilverSummit Healthplan and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada are also expected to participate and share information about resources available to job seekers and their families.
“Connecting northern Nevadans with a broad range of employment opportunities and support services is especially important in today’s economy,” said John Parel, deputy administrator for workforce at the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. “This event can help connect qualified candidates with local businesses while supporting continued workforce growth in Washoe County and across the state.”
