The Second Judicial District Court Celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the Washoe County Historic Courthouse

The Second Judicial District Court will celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Washoe County historic courthouse on Wednesday, June 14, Flag Day. Festivities will begin at 12 p.m. with guided tours of the historic courthouse. At 2 p.m. a recognition ceremony will be held on the front steps of the historic courthouse located at 75 Court Street. Governor Joe Lombardo will be presenting Washoe County students who have demonstrated outstanding student citizenship with a U.S. Flag that has been flown over the courthouse. Celebrations will last until 5 p.m. and all events are open to the public.

The schedule of events is as follows:

12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Guided tours of the historic courthouse, 75 Court Street

2 p.m. – 3 p.m. 150th Anniversary Celebration, front steps of 75 Court Street

3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Flag Day and Naturalization Ceremony, 1 S. Sierra Street, Patio

For unobstructed viewing of the courthouse front steps, one block of Virginia Street will be closed to traffic. The closure will extend from First Street to Court Street from 12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
