Tenured Poll Worker honored with special recognitions after years of service to Washoe County elections

RENO, Nevada – The Washoe County Registrar of Voters office recognized longtime Poll Worker, Robert Fuller, with the presentation of a Certificate of Distinguished Election Service, during its annual Media Day, May 9. Following this award presentation, Fuller also received a custom Office of the County Manager Commemorative coin featuring images from Washoe County and Nevada from Washoe County Manager Eric Brown, for his years of dedication to public service.

The Certificate of Distinguished Election Service is given to Poll Workers who have gone above and beyond with their contributions to a positive voting experience for voters and election workers alike. The coin presented by Manager Brown is the first of its kind, with only the most devoted individuals being invited to receive the coin moving forward.

“Having a dedicated and knowledgeable Poll Worker like Robert has been an invaluable asset for Washoe County elections,” said Cari-Ann Burgess, Interim Registrar of Voters for Washoe County. “I cherish all our Poll Workers, but Robert certainly stands out as an individual who has dedicated his life to the election process. Without him and others like him, we cannot put on an election.”

Giving back is a theme that runs throughout Fuller’s life, being a retired police officer in addition to being a veteran elections worker. He has been known to object to receiving pay for his time serving as a Poll Worker, and so uses these earnings to purchase treats for fellow elections staff.

Manager Brown noted, “Robert is one-of-a-kind, and that is why we are proud that he is the first to receive the Office of the County Manager Commemorative coin. We appreciate his service to the citizens who depend on him to ensure a fair and smooth election.”

The Washoe County Registrar of Voters office has the mission of ensuring that each citizen of Washoe County who is eligible to register and vote can do so.
