Regional Shooting Facility reopens after monthlong closure

Qualified staff have been hired to allow for shooting enthusiasts to practice at the public range

Reno, Nevada, August 2, 2023. Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space announces the reopening of the Regional Shooting Facility after a temporary closure of nearly one month.

Due to staffing shortages, the Regional Shooting Facility closed earlier this summer to the public until certified staff could be hired. After finding appropriate staff, the facility is now open for target practice, which is particularly important to hunting enthusiasts ahead of hunting season.

Washoe County District Park Manager Bryan Harrower shared, “With the tight labor market and the significant level of certification required to hire for these positions, finding the right individuals that would allow the range to reopen took some time. We are thrilled that the shooting facility is now back open so the public can practice safe target shooting. We appreciate the community’s patience while we took the necessary steps to safely reopen.”

The Regional Shooting Facility is now open to the public during regular business hours, Friday through Monday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
