The Westbrook Community Center in Lemmon Valley will be open Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., Monday-Friday. The goal of Washoe County’s Congregate Meal Program is to provide lunch for seniors in a group setting, giving them the opportunity to socialize, all while enjoying healthy, flavorful food. The program provides one meal per day to seniors 60+ and qualified individuals. A hot meal or fresh salad is provided Monday through Friday at ten senior meal locations. The suggested voluntary contribution is $2 per meal.  The Older Americans Act provides funding for this program, requiring anyone under 60 (and not meeting the qualifications above), who wishes to eat at any of the sites, be charged $4 per meal. Meal reservations are required for all sites, except the 9th street Reno location, prior to 8:30 a.m., same day. To reserve a meal, call 775-328-2786. Seniors have the option to enjoy a meal on location, or take it to-go.

The Westbrook Community Center is named in honor of Ollie and Helen Westbrook, who dedicated more than half a century of volunteer public service to the Black Springs community. The building provides a spacious setting for a variety of uses. The sun-filled “dome” room is one of two, large community rooms. There is also a centrally located kitchen, along with restrooms.
