Reno, Nev. Nov. 13, 2024. The Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA) is celebrating November as National Adoption Awareness Month by calling on the community to join us and become part of the FAM, which stands for foster, adopt, or mentor a child. HSA has more than 650 children in care and is need of more people.
“HSA thanks the hundreds of people who have taken their time to foster, adopt, or mentor a child in care. Studies show that when a child has a role model during their developmental years, they have a much better chance of becoming a productive member of society,” said Washoe County HSA Director Ryan Gustafson. “Although many have joined our FAM, there is much more work that remains to be done. We encourage the community to learn more about ways you can partner with us to help our most vulnerable children.”
