Christmas shopping spree for free

by | Dec 9, 2021

Reno, Nev. Dec. 13, 2021. The William N. Pennington Foundation is giving the gift of Christmas to Washoe County’s most vulnerable this year.

More than 700 foster children in care at the Human Services Agency (HSA) will have plenty of presents to open Christmas morning, thanks to a generous grant from the William N. Pennington Foundation. Families will be treated to a $145,000 shopping spree on select days throughout December and all for free. The grant money was awarded to HSA for Christmas earlier this year, as part of a $326,250 grant, which was also used to help children in care purchase school supplies and clothing.

“The William N. Pennington Foundation has been the gift that keeps on giving over the years to help children in care have a happy holiday season,” said Human Services Agency Supervisor Jesse Brown. “This grant is a huge blessing , providing so many foster families the means to give children in care a Christmas they may not have otherwise had. We thank the William N. Pennington Foundation for their gracious donations, loving support, and for making this a very special Christmas for so many kids.”

The William N. Pennington Foundation was founded in 1989, with a focus on supporting education, community services, health care, and medical research, primarily in the State of Nevada, with an emphasis on Reno and Northern Nevada. The Foundation supports organizations that help people and families persevere through difficult times.

The Human Services Agency is in dire need of more foster families. If you are interested, please email HSA at haveaheartinfo@washoecounty.gov, head to our website at www.haveaheartwashoe.us or call 775-337-4470.
