Washoe County Library Announces 2022 Summer Reading Challenge

by | May 31, 2022

Washoe County Library is excited to announce the start of the 2022 Summer Reading Challenge! This year’s theme is “Oceans of Possibilities,” and patrons are invited to sign up to participate starting June 1. The program runs through July 31 and is open to readers of all ages, with prizes available to participants ages 0-18.

Summer is a great time for kids and teens to build strong literacy skills through reading. The Summer Reading Challenge offers a variety of reading incentives and engagement opportunities, including virtual badges, prize books, and free interactive events at library locations. Starting June 1, the first 2,000 kids and teens who visit the library and sign up will receive a themed activity bag and a free age-appropriate book.

Several Washoe County Library branches will host Summer Reading Challenge kickoff parties from June 1-10. These events will feature family-friendly games, crafts, and ocean-themed activities.

Patrons can sign up in person at any library branch or download the Beanstack app to get started at home. For more information about the Summer Reading Challenge please visit washoecountylibrary.us/summerreading.
