The Spanish Springs Library has been cleared to open as scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2023. The library closed on Thursday, June 29, and Friday, June 30 due to a mercury spill in the parking lot.
At this time, the Washoe County Health District and Environmental Protection Agency have evaluated the site and have determined the site to be safe to occupy.
The Spanish Springs Library will be kicking off Artown on Sunday with a classic film series. “We are so relieved all our patrons and staff are safe and the library has been cleared for reopening just in time for our first Artown event of this season,” said Branch Manager Jana MacMillan. “We are proud to kick off our ‘Hitchcock’s Greatest’ Artown film series with a showing of ‘Psycho’ in our front meeting room at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 2. Please come into the cool and join us!”
