by | Apr 27, 2023

Washoe County Library System is excited to announce the reopening of the Sierra View Library, located at 4001 S. Virginia St. in the Reno Town Mall. The building will reopen with a soft launch on Thursday, April 27, with a grand opening planned for Wednesday, May 17.

The Sierra View Library, which opened in the Reno Town Mall in 1987, has been updated with new flooring, fresh paint, and a new back entrance. The back entrance will provide a convenient way into the library and mall and will soon be enhanced with an ADA-accessible lift. New furniture and internet computers are expected to arrive shortly.

The Sierra View branch is reopening in advance of the Culture Fest event on Saturday, April 29, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. This collaborative event with the Reno Town Mall will feature food trucks, performances, arts and crafts, and activities for all ages. Visit washoelibrary.org/culturefest for the full schedule of events.

The library system is also excited to announce that the next Friends of Washoe County Library book sale will go on as scheduled in the Reno Town Mall during the week of June 3-11. The Friends of Washoe County Library is a member-supported 501(c)(3) Nevada nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating, fundraising, and providing support for the Washoe County Library System. For more information about the Friends nonprofit and the upcoming book sale, visit washoelibraryfriends.org.

Funding for the renovations was provided through a partnership with Washoe County, Washoe County Library System, and the Reno Town Mall as part of the new lease agreement. These improvements are part of an ongoing effort to ensure that a first-class library system is available to all.
