On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Washoe County Board of Commissioners issued a proclamation recognizing April 19–25 as National Library Week. First celebrated in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April. This annual celebration is a time to recognize how essential libraries are to thriving communities.
At Washoe County Library, we invite everyone to join the celebration! Whether you’re a longtime patron, a new neighbor, or haven’t visited in a while, now is the perfect time to explore all the library has to offer. The library provides a wide variety of services including downloadable ebooks and audiobooks on the Libby app, bookable meeting rooms, resume assistance and interview prep for job seekers with Brainfuse JobNow, and one-on-one assistance with forms, applications, and devices during Book a Librarian sessions. Featured events include Story Times, book clubs, art exhibits, craft programs, artistic performances, and more!
