Downtown Reno Library to Close November 27 through Early 2024 for Elevator Renovations

by | Nov 17, 2023

The Downtown Reno Library will be undergoing renovations to its elevator that will necessitate a branch closure. The building will be closed to the public from Monday, November 27 through Sunday, December 17, and is expected to reopen for regular hours on Monday, December 18.

The alley behind the library will be blocked during the closure which will affect access to the book drop. Patrons can return items to book drops at any other Washoe County Library locations. Hold pickup at the Downtown Reno Library will remain available via the hold pickup lockers located in front of the building. Patrons can select the lockers as a pickup location when placing holds online.

Construction will continue after the library reopens, and the elevator is expected to be fully operational by early February 2024. Patrons in need of assistance accessing materials inside the library while the elevator is unavailable can contact library staff for help.

Story time and other library events will be paused during construction but are expected to resume once the elevator renovation is complete.

Washoe County Library appreciates the community’s support during this temporary closure, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
