Nearly 950 mail ballots in Washoe County require a signature cure and will not be counted unless voters take action before the deadline of 5 p.m. today, Monday, June 15.
“Every mail ballot must be verified before it can be counted,” said Washoe County Registrar of Voters Andrew McDonald. “We encourage voters whose ballots require a signature cure to work with our office as soon as possible to ensure their ballot is counted.”
Nevada election law requires the Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office to compare the signature on a mail ballot return envelope with all signatures available in the voter’s registration record to verify the voter’s identity. If the voter’s identity cannot be verified, the office attempts to contact the voter so the issue can be resolved through the signature cure process.
A mail ballot may require a signature cure if the return envelope is missing a signature or if the signature on the return envelope cannot be verified against signatures on file. When this happens, the ballot is placed in rejected status and cannot be processed for counting until the voter cures the ballot.
Voters can check whether their ballot requires a signature cure by visiting washoecounty.gov/voters and navigating to the 2026 Election Data tab under the Results Dashboard. Voters can then download the latest Cure Report and search for their name.
Voters with a missing or mismatched signature may cure their ballot using one of the following methods:
- Call the Registrar of Voters Office: (775) 328-3670
- Visit the Registrar of Voters Office: 1001 E. Ninth St., Reno, NV 89512
- Text to cure: Text “Washoe” to 28683 and follow the link in the response
- Use InCode: Scan the QR code provided in the signature cure letter or visit washoecounty.gov/ballotcure
- Respond to the letter: Complete, sign and return the Mail Ballot Cure Affidavit Form included with the notice
Completed affidavit forms should be returned to the Registrar of Voters Office by email or hand delivery today.
Unofficial election results remain available on the Washoe County election results dashboard. Election results remain unofficial until the canvass of the vote is completed on June 18, 2026.
