Washoe County Emergency Management is opening a County-managed and Red Cross-supported warming center at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center located at 4590 S Virginia St. in Reno for residents without power, as the region faces a continued period of cold temperatures. While NV Energy hopes to have a large number of customers’ power restored by the end of today, full restoration could take until Tuesday, January 3.
About half the CSD on-call crew was called in this morning to manage water of the roadway at Sierra Manor and Monte Vista. With the rain turning to snow at higher elevations, crews are switching to plowing as needed. Additionally, Incline Village received 3”-5” of snow early this morning and there is a full crew plowing in the north Lake Tahoe area.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the coming week, with five wet storm systems bringing significant rain (1”-4") to lower elevations and snow to the mountains. Washoe County Community Services Department (CSD) developed an operations plan for the storm events and is prepared to mitigate localized flooding.

Washoe County Treasurer Linda Jacobs would like to remind property owners that Monday, January 2, is the due date for the third installment of 2022/23 property taxes.
Most Washoe County offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of Christmas and New Year’s Day. The new year will begin with a Board of County Commissioners meeting on Jan. 3.
