Washoe County offices will be closed on Memorial Day

Most Washoe County offices will be closed Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day. Memorial Day is observed the last Monday each May to honor those who have given their lives serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

UNR-Cares Donation Drive a Success

This year between May 4 and 15, UNR's Department of Residential Life, Housing, and Food Services and the County’s Human Services Agency partnered to connect items left by students moving out of their dorms with newly housed people moving into theirs. The partnership was a huge success diverting housewares from the landfill, while supporting people who need resources.

Washoe County has launched an election security pilot project with the Center for Internet Security (CIS), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to data integrity. Registrar of Voters Andrew McDonald presented “Project Plain Sight,” a public-facing data transparency tool providing the public an opportunity to independently verify the integrity of the voter registration system.
