Today the Board approved the creation of a Behavioral Health Administrator position, which will be responsible for the mapping and implementation of a regional system of care for Mental Health services in Washoe County. The position will work with county departments, community providers, and the State of Nevada to define gaps in service, develop strategies for securing facilities and programs, and develop a legislative plan for funding and duty-transition given mental health has been a State-led focus in Nevada.

While the crew is focused on public roads and access, residents also play a key role in keeping our community safe. How fast and efficient we complete snow control measures is largely dependent on support within our community. If each of us did the following, countless hours would be saved removing snow and ice from our roadways.

Animal cruelty investigation leads to seizure of 31 animals

On October 16, 2023, in response to public animal welfare concerns, Washoe County Regional Animal Services began an investigation into a potential case of animal cruelty. Washoe County Regional Animal Services ultimately secured a warrant leading to the confiscation of 26 dogs and five horses from the property.
