Washoe County prepares for atmospheric river and localized flooding
The National Weather Service has forecast an atmospheric river in the Reno-Tahoe region beginning Thursday. This is expected to bring heavy rainfall on top of a significant snowpack and full creeks and ditches. Washoe County has been preparing for winter weather, monitoring conditions and proactively initiating preplanned responses in known trouble areas.

CSD is making it easier for residents to connect with experts in the fields of planning, engineering, and building at no charge to discuss their development projects. This is an opportunity to meet online, on the phone, or in person one-on-one with these experts.
Washoe County property taxes due March 6, 2023
Washoe County Treasurer Justin Taylor is reminding property owners that Monday, March 6, is the due date for the fourth installment of 2022/23 property taxes. Payments will be accepted without penalty through Thursday, March 16, 2023.

The Community Services Department (CSD) received more than 100 requests for traffic calming and engineering in 2022. The top requests are related to speed reduction, pedestrian safety, signage and striping, traffic signal issues, and school zone safety improvements. Of those requests, 20-30 percent were mitigated through traffic-calming methods, 25-35 percent were prioritized and will be addressed, and 35-45 percent were determined to require no action.
Washoe County offices will be closed February 20
Most Washoe County offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, in observance of Presidents’ Day. The holiday celebrates the birthday of the first U.S. president, President George Washington, while also noting President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, which is February 12. It is celebrated annually on the third Monday in February.
