Election Day for the 2026 General Election is officially underway in Washoe County, with 41 vote centers open today, Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 7 a.m. Vote centers will remain open until 7 p.m., and all voters in line by closing time will be permitted to vote.
One thing voters may experience for the first time this Election Day is the use of ballot marking devices, which were introduced in Washoe County during the 2026 Primary Election. Voters can familiarize themselves with the process before heading to a vote center by watching the Registrar of Voters’ instructional video.
“We’ve heard from voters how much they appreciate being able to hold a physical paper ballot in their hands,” Registrar of Voters Andrew McDonald said. “Ballot marking devices give that experience. You make your selections on a touchscreen, print your ballot and then cast it yourself.”
Voters may cast their ballot at any of Washoe County’s 41 vote centers, regardless of where they live within the county. Six locations have been designated as “Super Centers”, with additional equipment and staffing to accommodate higher voter turnout. A complete list of locations, an interactive map and estimated wait times are available at washoecounty.gov/votecenters.
Same-day voter registration is available at vote centers, and all locations offer accessible voting options, including ADA curbside voting.
Voters returning completed mail ballots may utilize official mail ballot drop boxes at any of the 41 vote centers or the additional standalone drop box at Summerset Assisted Living. All drop boxes will close at 7 p.m. Voters returning mail ballots do not need to wait in the voting line.
The Registrar of Voters encourages voters returning mail ballots on Election Day to utilize an official mail ballot drop box to ensure their ballot is received on time. With recent changes to U.S. Postal Service operations, ballots mailed on Election Day may not always receive a same-day postmark. Under Nevada law, mail ballots returned through USPS must be postmarked on or before Nov. 3 and received by 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, to be eligible for counting.
Unofficial election results will begin being released after all vote centers throughout Nevada have closed and the last voter has cast their ballot. The initial results release will include early voting totals and mail ballots processed and counted through Election Night. Subsequent releases will include Election Day in-person voting results and additional mail ballots as they are processed. Washoe County anticipates releasing updated results approximately hourly throughout Election Night, with the final update expected shortly after 3 a.m.
Voters and media may follow unofficial election results through the Washoe County Election Results Dashboard and the Nevada Secretary of State Election Results Dashboard. Mail ballot, early voting and Election Day turnout can also be tracked through the Nevada Secretary of State’s VIVID Dashboard.
All Election Night results are unofficial and subject to change as additional eligible ballots are processed and counted.
