Washoe County Enters Final Stages of 2026 Primary Election as Canvass Nears

Washoe County is in the final stages of completing the 2026 Primary Election count before results become official on Thursday.

The deadline for provisional voters to verify their eligibility was 5 p.m. Friday, June 12. A total of 556 provisional ballots were voted, with 535 accepted and counted and 21 rejected and not counted because eligibility requirements were not met.

The deadline to cure challenged mail ballot signatures was 5 p.m. Monday, June 15. Of the 1,614 mail ballots requiring signature cure, 938 were successfully cured and have been counted. 676 remained uncured and will not be counted.

The turnout for Washoe County in the 2026 Primary Election currently sits at 30.74 percent.

  • Democrat: 39,603
  • Republican: 43,161
  • Nonpartisan or Minor Party: 16,047

Post-logic and accuracy testing (Post-LAT) of the voting equipment will take place Wednesday, June 17, at the Central Counting Place. This test helps verify that voting equipment tabulated ballots accurately during the election and continues to produce correct results after all ballots have been counted.

Unofficial election results remain available on the Washoe County election results dashboard. Election results remain unofficial until the canvass of the vote is completed at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026, in the Board of County Commissioners Chambers. During canvass, County Commissioners formally review and certify the election results, after which the results of the 2026 Primary Election become official.
