Reno, Nev. April 27, 2026. May means Older Americans Month! The Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA) is unveiling a monthlong schedule of exciting events, offering a variety of activities, such as ice cream socials, dance lessons, and dozens of diverse classes to encourage our elderly population to socialize and stay active this spring.

All the fun begins Friday, May 1, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., with our annual Information Fair at the Washoe County Senior Center. The Information Fair features more than 70 valuable vendors, in hopes of connecting Washoe County’s elderly to vital programs and services in our community.  Seniors will have the opportunity to learn more about retirement planning, insurance, healthcare, legal aid, and much more.

What: Older Americans Month Information Fair.

Where: Washoe County Senior Services Center, located at 1155 E. Ninth St., Building E, in Reno.

When: Friday, May 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

More Info: Contact Washoe County Senior Services at 775-328-2575.

Media: Interviews and b-roll will be available during the OAM Information Fair.

A special lunch will be served to seniors 60 and older for a suggested donation of $2. Individuals under the age of 60 may purchase a meal for $4.

In honor of Older Americans Month, HSA is collaborating with several government agencies and community partners to provide dozens of events for seniors throughout May, all in an effort to support this year’s theme: Champion Your Health. View the Washoe County OAM website for more information and a complete list of events. The general public can pick-up a copy of the Older Americans Month Program Booklet at Sparks City Hall, Reno City Hall, Incline Village Parks and Recreation, Sun Valley General Improvement District, and all Washoe County Libraries and senior centers.

Older Americans Month is possible, in part, by Regional Transportation Commission, Washoe County and the Cities of Reno and Sparks Senior Advisory Boards.
