The Washoe County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for two vacancies on the Washoe County Library Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is appointed by the Washoe County Commissioners in accordance with NRS 379.022, and is responsible for governing the operations of Washoe County Library System.
The Library Board of Trustees consists of five at-large members, each appointed by the Washoe County Commissioners for a four-year term. Members may serve two consecutive terms. Terms of service for both full-term vacancies will be July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2030. Reappointments may be sought thereafter.
The Library Board appoints the Library Director and evaluates his or her performance, helps set library goals and objectives, approves policies, monitors the library’s finances, evaluates the library’s overall effectiveness, and advocates for the library in the community. The Library Board of Trustees meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Applicants must also be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to perform the duties of Trustees.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026. Individuals who have applied to the board within one year of the application deadline do not need to reapply.
