Reno, Nev. June 3, 2025. Summer is on its way and so is the heat! The good news is there is some relief in the form of fans for Washoe County’s seniors. KOLO Cares News Now Channel 8 is sponsoring the Washoe County Human Services Agency’s (HSA) 2025 Summer Fan Drive for Seniors from Wednesday, June 4, 2025, through Friday, Sept. 5, 2025.
Those 60 and older, can pick-up a fan Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., at the Washoe County Senior Center, which is located at 1155 E. 9th St., Building E. Seniors are asked to contact Washoe County Senior Services at (775) 328-2575 ext. 9, to see if a fan is available before coming by.
“Studies show seniors are more vulnerable to heat stroke, so we ask this generous community to do what it has done so well throughout so many summers in the past and donate a new fan to a senior in need,” said Washoe County HSA Senior Services Division Director Cara Paoli. “Giving the gift of breeze is paramount in providing relief to our seniors and they are always so appreciative. Thanks to the generous citizens of Washoe County, last year, HSA received and handed out more than 1,000 fans to local seniors. We thank everyone who gave to this fan drive in the past and we sure hope they will do so once again this year.”
