November is National Adoption Awareness Month

by | Nov 13, 2023

Reno, Nev. Nov. 13, 2023. The Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA) celebrates November as National Adoption Awareness Month by encouraging the community to take a moment to recognize hundreds of Washoe County’s foster and adoptive families. HSA has more than 650 children in care and is asking the public to consider adopting, fostering, or mentoring a child.

“The need has never been greater or more important for our more than 650 children in care to have support. It takes the community to partner with us in making sure Washoe County’s children have what they need during their developmental years,” said Washoe County HSA Division Director Ryan Gustafson. “HSA works diligently to find homes for children in need of one. We, here at HSA, want to say thank you to the hundreds of dedicated foster and adoptive parents that have answered the call to help. We ask that more people join our mission to provide a safe, secure, and healthy community for our most vulnerable children.”
